Aunt Diane and Uncle Kent flew in to St Louis, and stopped to see us on their way to Kansas City. It was so great to see them! It's been several years since we last hung out.
We gave them a tour of our house, since they've never been here before. We had a really great dinner at Buckingham Smokehouse, which included deep fried corn on the cob. Mmmm! I wish I would have gotten a picture! Hopefully we'll be able to go to South Carolina to visit them soon.

Tooth Fairy Assistants
Kyle and I are personal assistants to the tooth fairy. Amy, Jeremy, Aly, and Jillian were in Columbia this weekend for Aly's birthday. They stopped by our house before their way out of town. Jillian was excited to show us her first wiggly tooth. It was barely hanging on, there was a tooth coming in behind it, and Amy said that if it didn't come out this weekend Jillian was going to go to the dentist on Monday. Amy and Jeremy even tried to pay her $5 to let them pull it out. So we said we'd match it. $10 for a tooth!!!
Kyle wrapped a piece of dental floss around it. After a half hour of reassurance and one big pull it was out!
For the record, those were tears of joy. She said, "I just want you to know Uncle Kyle, I was crying because I was happy."

Pearson Wedding
On Thursday we traveled to Omaha for a 4 day visit.
Thursday night we headed out to Lovefest in the Midwest, to see the Strange Pleasures reunion show. It poured down rain, but luckily we were indoors. Will was nice enough to let us stay at his apartment so that we didn't have to camp.
Friday night we stayed with Boyd and Ruthie. Ruthie cooked up some wild asparagus that Jay sent along from Royal, NE.
It was wrapped in bacon and cooked on the grill. Yum!
May 14, 2011 was the big day for our friends Pro and Heather. The sky threatened rain, but luckily it held off.
They had the ceremony in a cute little gazebo in the park by their house.
Erik, Pro, and Kyle wait to get started.
Here comes the bride.
Everyone helps keep the unity candle lit.
Then we had BBQ and cake at the Firefighter's Hall.
There was music by Acoustic Groove, Strange Pleasures, Strange Pleasures with Pro on bass, and a couple of songs played by April and Heather. We danced and danced. Even Boyd and Ruthie cut a rug.
It was great to see everyone!
And congratulations to the happy couple. We were honored to attend!
We had an uneventful trip home on Sunday, both in separate vehicles (but that's another post).

Starting the Fence
Here's our backyard, where we cut a tree down not too long ago.
This weekend we started building a fence. On Friday we got our lumber delivered.
And then Saturday, Kyle picked up a monstrous post-hole digger.
Kyle, John, and I pushed over the remaining old fence. Then they dug a trench and placed a retaining wall so that our gravel wouldn't wash out into the neighbor's yard.
Cory came over from Kansas City to help.
Holes were dug, posts were sunk, and the basic framework was set before dark.
Tuesday night, Kyle and Zack nailed in the pickets. It's all done except for one corner, but here are some after pictures.
Hopefully in the next weekend or two we'll be able to finish and get the shed up.
