Wurstfest 2011

This is why we didn't end up camping for Wurstfest. 4" of snow in Columbia on Saturday night didn't completely ruin our high holiday, but changed our plans a little.

We still arrived at 10am with our coolers, dry ice, and our hunger for pork.

I got to help make sausage, making me an official "Stone Hill Stuffer".

Hermann, MO might be one of the happiest places on Earth.

It was so much fun!

We now have a whole freezer full of sausage that will probably last us a year or more.

Mission accomplished.

Mini-Chomp/Project Bean Can

As always, we had a Mini-Chompdown on Friday after the Dirtfoot show.

Chompdown breakfast:

Then we made bean cans for the "Cape Gerardy" Show.

We had fun decorating them.

We hope that they come back soon!

Mojo's Dirtfoot

Scott T and Andrea came to town and stayed with us Thursday night. Dirtfoot played at Mojo's. They were going to stay us, but Mojo's got hotel rooms for them instead.

After the show we visited Dustin at KOPN.

Here's proof that Andrea was up past 1am.

And Kyle found his favorite record, Robert Palmer.

Big Saturday

Today was a big Saturday. Tim, Nick, and Kyle cut down the dead maple that was in the back yard. It was the big one in the far back corner.

Tim used his ropes and climbing gear.

Impressive.

After a hard day's work, we headed over to opening night of The Bridge. Wes opened this new venue, and I can see ourselves hanging out there a lot in the future.

The Stingrays played a fun set. Congrats Wes!

Fishin' time begins

This is the lake where we fish. It's beautiful, even when everything is still pre-spring brown.

I caught a bass.

Our friend Tim caught a 3.9 lb. crappie, which is cool because it's his lake.

Now I can't wait to get out there again!

That old house

Because I'm a nosy neighbor, I took a picture of the house across the street right before they tore it down.

I was going to take an after picture, but there's nothing left but a mud hole.

Fat Tuesday

Tim and Nicki invited us over for a festive Cajun dinner. We had salad, Jambalaya, and I made bread pudding with bourbon sauce for dessert. Yum!

Weekend with Jillian

Our niece came for a visit. On Friday night we played a lot of Wii games.

Saturday, I gave her a pair of socks that I made. Pink, purple, and perfect!

We went to the grocery store, played more Wii games, then went to the Missouri Children's Museum.

There were lots of fun things at the museum.

The dress-up room -

The Market -

The space stairwell -

Not to mention the craft room, blocks room, and the veterinary office room. Fun!

That night we headed over to McDonald's for dinner and time at the playplace.

Jillian got to burn off some energy. Jordan and Joel were there to show her the ropes.

Sunday we made blueberry muffins, shrinky dinks, played with Orbeez, more Wii, and read some books (chapter books! Wow!). When Jeremy and Aly came, we all went to Cici's pizza.

What a weekend!

Reverend Peyton

Kyle, Dustin, and Scott went to see Reverend Peytons Big Damn Band at Mojo's. I opted to stay home because Jillian was here for the weekend. The last time I saw them was on the Backwoods Stage at Wakarusa 2010. That was a dusty fun time.

The boys had fun, and I'll have to catch these guys next time.

Cornmeal

We went to Cornmeal at Mojo's on a Thursday night. Scott T and Dustin were in attendance, but we procrastinated too long for Scott to get his taping gear set up. We missed the opening band. I'm a little disappointed because I haven't found a recording posted yet. It was a great show, and for the encore they did a Talking Heads tune.

I tried to get a picture, but the lighting in the building is horrible. Plus with the crowd and a narrow venue, it just wasn't happening. So instead, here's a picture of Allie Kral that I got from Jambase.com.

Swoon.
